MSP GLOBAL 2024. Impressions and considerations.

As mentioned in my previous article, I visited the event MSP GLOBAL, THE NUMBER ONE EVENT FOR MSPS AND TECH EXPERTS (as stated on the organizer's website), which is dedicated to companies and professionals who provide managed IT services.

MSP GLOBAL 2024: A "Spanish" Edition

The event was organized by the company WHD Event GmbH of Cologne (Germany), which also organizes the CloudFest event, scheduled from March 17th to 20th, 2025 at EuropaPark in Rust (Germany).

This year, the setting was different from previous years, and the organizer chose the theme park PortAventura near Salou, in Catalonia, close to Tarragona.

The event mainly took place at the Convention Center, where on the ground floor there were numerous stands with the sponsors of the event, while on the upper floor the presentation sessions, masterclasses and trainings took place.

According to the organizer's statement, visitors numbered over 2,000 from more than 80 nations belonging to various categories such as MSP and MSSP, along with distributors, resellers, agencies, and numerous other individuals from both the IT sector and beyond.

The main theme was nevertheless and everywhere cybersecurity, accompanied by other themes and solutions such as servers, storage solutions, networking solutions, service management platforms, remote access and support solutions, and various solutions offered by some distributors.

Very interesting and well attended was the challenge of Server Throwing which took place on October 9th, 2024.

The catering was of good quality and there were occasional moments of conviviality at some sponsors' stands which favored moments of general relaxation.

Notable were the celebrations held at the end of each day. On October 9th, for example, the "ConneXion Party" took place in part of the theme park rebuilt into a village in "Far West" style where a band entertained the evening with country music.

In the final evening of October 10th, the Beach House Party took place at the Infinitum Beach Club.

Impressions

I was less than impressed by the size of the event, the chosen location, the services offered (free shuttle bus, dedicated app, parties, etc.), and imagining all the preparation and coordination work, I must give my heartfelt compliments to the organization.

It's not so easy to gather all resources needed to organize such a large scale event, even if perhaps the organizer is already experienced in managing events of this type and size, also organizing, as mentioned above, the CloudFest.

At a personal and professional level, I have had the opportunity to meet and discuss with some interesting people, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that has favored the sharing of knowledge and exchange of opinions.

Considerations.

I am satisfied with having participated in the event because I believe that in these cases there is always opportunity for personal growth, both in terms of knowledge/awareness of the IT market, and in terms of personal relationships: face-to-face meetings with people from the sector are certainly very different from "virtual" encounters via email, social media or e-meetings.

As far as catering is concerned, I believe it was not excellent, but good overall, the food and drinks were good even if not exceptional like in other events I have participated in (see MSP Day, for example).
